Introducing a new, compact and lightweight professional camcorder, the HVR-V1P, further enhancing Sony's range of professional HDV products. Like the existing industry proven HVR-Z1P and HVR-A1P, the HVR-V1P offers ground breaking innovative features for the film and documentary maker.
The HVR-V1P is the first HDV camcorder to incorporate the "3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor" system for optimum picture quality. Coupled with Sony's enhanced Imaging Processor (EIP), which internally process signals in the progressive domain at 1920 x 1080, 4:2:2 colour space along with, high sensitivity, low noise and wide dynamic range enables the HVR-V1P to deliver unparallel HD images. Offering HD quality in a compact, lightweight and mobile design Sony has broadened its line of professional compact light weight HDV product offerings further with the introduction of the HVR-V1P. Sony’s first highly successful flagship camcorder, the HVR-Z1P and compact HVR-A1P have set the benchmark by dramatically revolutionising the traditional methods of capturing video footage. With the new Sony HVR-V1P camcorder, you will be assured of the same breathtaking beauty of HD picture reproduction within its compact chassis. Have the freedom to create video material with much greater creativity and visual impact. The HVR-V1P will pave the way into a new world of HD video production. Progressive scan acquisition As the pioneer of bringing the world of video into cinema production, Sony has developed an extensive range of HD equipment specially tailored for digital cinema applications. On a worldwide level, low-budget cinema and TV drama creators have eagerly awaited an HDV camcorder able to meet their requirements. One that builds on the same expertise that Sony has demonstrated with its existing high-end digital cinematography products. In collaboration with prominent movie and drama creators, Sony has carefully analysed current and future needs for digital cinema productions. This has given birth to the innovative HVR-V1P, a result of this analysis combined with more than a decade of Sony expertise in developing high-end digital cinema gear. In addition to popular 50i, the HVR-V1P offers 25p progressive scan capture, meeting cinema and drama production requirements in this compact yet high performance unit. The 25p scan images are recorded at 50i, keeping your existing HDV1080/50i HDV gear in action. Playback your 25p scan footage using existing Sony HDV equipment, or feed it to a compatible Non-Linear Editor (NLE) directly from the camera via the i.LINK interface. The professional quality you expect from Sony Our professional HDV products offer exceptional quality - only made possible by Sony's cutting-edge technical expertise. Our world-class semiconductor manufacturing technologies have enabled the development of a new CMOS sensor that offers the image quality to satisfy the most demanding professional. Employing a 3-chip system, the "3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor" offers high-resolution images with rich and natural colour reproduction. Coupled with advanced technology such as the Sony EIP and a high-quality Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® T* lens, the full power of this imaging system is realised in the HVR-V1P. HVR-DR60 Hard Disk Recording Unit (OPTIONAL) Video professionals can be confronted with tight production schedules and balancing time with creativity can become a dilemma. The Sony HVR-DR60 frees you from such dilemmas by allowing instant editing of your video footage. The HVR-DR60 offers a unique hybrid concept, in which video material with synchronised time code can be recorded to hard disk and the camcorder tape simultaneously. Simply, connect the HVR-DR60 to a PC running compatible NLE software. Resulting in immediate recognition by your PC of recorded data files for a dramatic improvement in editing efficiency. With the HVR-DR60, the time-consuming digitising process is a thing of the past. The HVR-DR60 offers users two modes – video mode and computer mode. The video mode allows users to review content either via the camcorder, a display monitor or VTR through the i.LINK connection. This mode also allows continuous and seamless looped playback if required. The computer mode allows high-speed transfer of either .m2t or AVI Type 1 direct to a PC. Another huge appeal of this Hybrid configuration is its improved efficiency in archiving operations. With your source footage available on tape and hard disk, you can immediately store the source tape in your video library without having to make copies. Your work footage is already available on the HVR-DR60 hard disk.
3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor The ClearVid CMOS Sensor™ has been developed using the most advanced technologies in the semiconductor industry. Thanks to the unique grid arrangement of the photo diode sensors, in which each is rotated by 45 degrees, sensor resolution has been optimised while maximising the photosensitive surface area. Combining this imaging system with its associated EIP, has enabled the use of a sophisticated interpolation scheme developed by Sony and offering distinct advantages compared to conventional spatial offset techniques. The "3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor" system is the core element enabling the 1920x1080 video signals to be processed. Unlike CCD sensors, CMOS is not prone to vertical smear, eradicating this from your list of technical constraints. Comparison with other HD Camcorders Smear-free Even with a point of high-intensity light, recording smear-free footage with the HVR-V1P becomes effortless. Wide dynamic range Notice that the overcast shadow on subject faces and over-lit hair (left), clear and natural-looking (right). Even with uneven lighting, the whole picture appears natural (wide dynamic range). Enhanced Imaging Processor™ This special imaging processor has been developed to realise the full power of the "3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor™" by handling the video signal output in 1920x1080 and 4:2:2 colour space. It's unique signal processing separates the image data into texture and brightness components and processes these independently. This makes it possible to reproduce images with a high level of clarity, from the very darkest to the very brightest areas of the image. The signals from the four surrounding photodiodes are used to reproduce one more signal with the Enhanced Imaging Processor™.
Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® T* lens with extra-low dispersion glass The HVR-V1P is equipped with a high quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens. Featuring a 62mm filter diameter, this lens offers a multilayer coating, extra-low dispersion glass, aspherical glass and excellent spectral characteristics that result in reduction of chromatic aberration. Normal glass Focus shifts with colour due to differences in refractive index, resulting in colour fringing. Extra-low dispersion glass Variation in refractive index is small, so focus is less affected by colour and chromatic aberration (colour fringing) is reduced. 20x optical lens and wide conversion lens The built-in 20x optical zoom lens enables long-range shots of sports events or wild animals with the stunning visual impact of HD images. The optional VCL-HG0868K 0.8x wide conversion lens uses a bayonet mount system for instant attachment or detachment. Combining these lens features, you can effortlessly capture close-ups or wide-angle shots in order to meet your video production requirements. 20x optical Zoom + Digital Extender Note: Pictures are simulated
High-resolution 1080 progressive scan Thanks to the 3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor™ and EIP, the HVR-V1P supports 25p (progressive) scan mode, in addition to popular 50i. The signals generated by the 3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor™ are processed in the progressive domain as 1920 x 1080 signals, allowing high-resolution progressive footage to be captured. 1080/25p acquisition, - Compatible with existing Sony professional HDV equipment The 25p scan signal is recorded as a 50i signal by dividing each frame into two fields. This allows your 25p scan footage to be played back or fed to an editing suite using thousands of Sony HDV equipment already in use world wide. Existing HDV NLE software can edit this 25p scan material, and output the final master as: - A sequence of still images at 25 fps, for film out
- A 25fps YUV (uncompressed) HD file, for output to Cinealta™ products
- A 25fps SD MPEG2 file, for the highest quality DVD mastering possible
- A 50i HDV file, for creating an HDV edit master
- A 50i YUV (uncompressed) HD or SD file, for outputting to Digital Betacam™ or HDCAM™ for broadcast
