The Sound Devices PIX Recorders boast the most unique feature set of any production video recorders on the market today. PIX HD Video Recorders are the only recorders on the market that posses many of these features ranking them among the most powerful production tools on the market today.

The PIX 220i and PIX 240i include a 5-inch IPS (In-Plane Switching), glossy, 800x480 pixel LCD display. This new technology yields a brighter, sharper image with improved color accuracy and excellent off-axis performance.

PIX 220i and 240i provide additional tools for capture beyond simply recording. With Exposure Assist and Focus Assist features, these recorders double as multi-function monitors.
These monitor features include:

  • False Color
  • Zebra Stripes
  • 1:1 Pixel Mapping
  • Peaking Filter

The PIX 220 includes a 5” LCD display which displays images with 800 x 480 resolution and provides immediate confirmation of recording, playback, audio metering, and setup menu selections. It supports input audio source selection between embedded HDMI, or balanced audio and features a LANC connector for connection with a LANC controller for control over start and record options. Featuring FireWire 800 and USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 backward-compatible) connectors, the PIC-Caddy also includes an eSATAp connection which offers drive powering and 3 Gbps transfer rate over a single cable.

The PIX 3:2 removal process actively views video fields looking for duplicates. When these duplicates are sensed, then this cadence is locked in and the appropriate extra fields are removed. The process depends on motion in the incoming video. The PIX 220i offers HDMI input and simultaneous HDMI output. HDMI timecode can be read from Sony FS100, and other Sony NX cams.

Built using light weight, metalized, molded carbon fiber chassis, the recorder is suitable for outdoor use, and with an advanced thermal design, it keeps the unit cool in extreme environments. It can be powered using an external DC power (10-18 V) or 2 Sony L-type batteries, and also acts as a charger for the battery inserted, when the recorder is not in use and plugged into an external supply. It is compatible with an external audio mixer or digital audio recorders which extends the flexibility of the recorder's on-board inputs and enhances audio input/output control.

Note! Media (Flash card & SSD) is not included in the box but is a recommended accessory.
