RODE DeadCat Windshield for VideoMic, NTG1 and NTG2 Microphones

I am currently using the Rode DeadCat for VideoMic (with a Zoom H1, Rode Micro Boompole, & PG1 Pistol Grip), as a very basic sound recording kit for short documentary style videos.I have chosen this particular configuration because of the low-cost and total ease-of-use, as I am teaching film making in primary school environment. The DeadCat is a must-have when using a VideoMic outdoors as it goes a long way in cutting wind noise, however, as this windshield does not fully encapsulate the mic it is not quite perfect. If you are not careful when placing the DeadCat, it can will be quite vulnerable to wind entering from the rear end of the mic. Having said that, I have rarely had a bad recording while using it, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.Again, Rode has produced an excellent product for those on a tight budget, capable of taking DSLR (or HDV) audio to another level without breaking the bank.
