Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Roland R05 does what's promised with ease. I bought the Roland R05 to use for recording podcasts in the field where bulky equipment is not appropriate. Its small size is perfect for my use as it can be easily carried in a pocket. The sound quality is more than sufficient for podcasting as the limits are going to be the operators microphone technique, and the sound environment of the recording venue. For my purpose I cannot fault this bit of gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for money and sound quality I've used this product to record audio for broadcast radio. It came out with some great sound from interviews and is very light weight. It comes with a USB cable so you don't have to eject the SD card all the time.
The start up takes a bit longer than I'd like but once on is very responsive. And all for a great price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact and Functional With the addition of a shotgun mic, this piece of kit is very handy for recording wildlife sounds including bird and frog calls. The quality of the recordings is good enough for immediate playback if required or to tidy up and keep as reference samples for future analysis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great little unit! I will be using this as a recorder in my wedding videography business. I slip this into the groom's pocket with a lav. microphone and viola, a good plan B in case my wireless mic. on the officiat fails plus nice clear audio of the (sometimes nervous) bride & groom's vows.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very happy I have had the unit for only two days and am confident that I made the right decision. I was looking to get the zoom h4n but after some research on the web and a bit of sensible thinking I went with Roland. The mikes are omni directional and can pick up a sparrows fart at twenty meters, It has a very easy to use interface, it can convert to mp3's at varied bitrates, it has good battery life and It has a peak indicator which i think is great. the unit is solid also. You can still hear buttons being pressed when you record with the built in speakers, but any device with built ins will probably do that. My only negative would be that I have found that transferring large files to a computer takes time but possibly a faster SDHC card might fix that. All in all i love the little thing, it has real class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic quality, easy to use. i use this to record my various bands and it just rocks. Stick it in the middle of the band and press record. Simple. The bass is recorded perfectly. You can then give mp3s to the other guys. I love it.
