Using our online system to create a quotation which is valid for 14 days.
We developed a simple self service system that allows Government Departments, Educational institutes, and Corporate companies, to obtain a quick quotation request, by following these simple steps.
- To create an Online Quotation, add the product(s) you wish a quote on to your shopping cart as if you were placing an order.
- After adding all the items to your shopping cart click "View Shopping Cart"
- On the Shopping Cart Page, instead of selecting the "Proceed to Checkout" button, click the "Request a Quote" button instead. (see below example)
You will then be redirected to the Login Page (if you're not already logged in) and you will be asked to log into your account. (see below)
If you don't have an account you will then need to create one, at this step. We require this information to capture all your details, so we can provide you with accurate shipping costs, and also if we needed to discuss particulars of the request with you.
Once you have logged into or created your account, you will then be re-directed to the Quotations Submission Page where you can submit your quote request.
All the items in your cart will be visible on this page (see below). You can also add any comments to the request, and select what your preferred method of payment will be.
Once the quote has been submitted, a Quote ID will be applied to it, (Shown as QU-XXXXX) which you can reference in any correspondence with us. A Confirmation of the request will also be emailed to you.
Once received by us, we will review your request and return to you with our most competitive quote.
Please allow up to 24hrs for Processing.
You will get a follow-up e-mail (Subject will read: Your Quote, QU-XXXXX has been completed).
Once you review your quote, you can "Accept"it via logging into your Account Center or modifying it by calling us during business hours.
Sound Devices’ USBPre® 2 is a high-resolution, portable hardware interface for Mac- and Windows-based digital audio. The USBPre 2 is the industry's highest performance and most flexible portable interface, connecting professional microphones, line-level sources, consumer audio electronics, and S/PDIF digital sources with Mac OS and Windows computers via USB.
Precision Microphone Preamplifiers USBPre 2 includes two discrete-transistor microphone preamps with 24-bit converters and sampling rates up to 192 kHz. These preamplifiers provide the highest performance in any portable interface. Their topology is shared with Sound Devices award-winning 744T Digital Audio Recorder. Peak limiters, high-pass filters, and a 15 dB pad add overload protection. All analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion is performed by the USBPre 2 for superior audio performance.
Computer Connectivity USBPre 2 is a class-compliant audio device. This allows for simple plug-and-play connection to computers running Mac OS, Windows, and Linux (see note to the right on Class-Compliant Drivers). There are no drivers to install for the USBPre 2 and there are no software-only features. All additional controls and settings are available on back panel DIP switches. The USB port also provides power to the unit, both when connected as an audio interface and when used in Stand-Alone operation.
Output Connectivity Flexibility To interconnect with sound systems big and small, the USBPre 2 includes numerous output connection types, including balanced mic- or line-level on XLR, unbalanced consumer line-level on RCA, S/PDIF coaxial (RCA) and optical (Toslink). The outputs have their own, dedicated front-panel level control. Use the balanced line-level signals to connect to powered loudspeakers. Use the optical S/PDIF to connect to hi-fi systems. Use the coaxial S/PDIF output in Stand-Alone mode for a portable microphone preamplifer with digital output for any production application.
Informative Metering Accurate signal level metering is essential for any sound engineer. The USBPre 2 includes a 23-segment, multicolor LED meter for precise level indication. The meter is switchable between input signal metering and output signal metering. The meter indicates both VU and peak (PPM) ballistics.
Stand-Alone Operation The USBPre 2 can be used in Stand-Alone mode where it operates as a high-quality, portable microphone preamplifier and analog-to-digital converter. Digital signals connected to the USBPre 2 are converted to analog and available at the headphone, XLR, and RCA outputs. Stand-Alone operation requires the unit to be connected to a USB power source. Stand-Alone mode is a great option when an additional microphone preamplifer, A-D converter, or D-A converter is required.
Field-Tested Reliability Like all of Sound Devices products, the USBPre 2 is designed to stand up to the most demanding environments. Its extruded aluminum chassis and aluminum panels, machined knobs, metal connectors, and laser-etched nomenclature are designed to hold up to years of abuse.

fantastic build quality + audio qualityI was initially wary as unit draws all its power from USB (no option of plug-pack) - computer USB power can be noisy & degrade audio, but is not a problem with this unit. Manufacturer's website avoids PR puff & is both useful - firmware upgrades - & honest - discusses any known problems - extraordinary!

Compact and transportableNot just the best preamps but great for use as a sound card For playing music from your computer through some nice quality Home Hi-Fi speakers. If they made a device that had 16 channels with a USB interface it would be my studios best device.

Sound Devices USBPre 2The USBPre2 doesn't just sound good it looks good too and would be great for field recording with a Laptop computer as it is very portable. I am using it as my main sound card and am very impressed with the sound quality. For a devices this small it is great to see that it has 2 headphone outputs and also has Spdif/Toslink ins and out but no Midi. This is not really a concern as I'd rather have the digital ins and outs as Usb midi devices are not that expensive to buy nowadays. I have been using the USBPre2 to record in and out via digital and analog and must say I am very happy with it. Very quiet and great detail in the sound itself. What I also like is that you don't need to use a power supply as it runs of the USB cable connected to the computer, now that is impressive! You also don't need to install software mixers or drivers as the settings can be easily changed on the front panel. I have used various soundcards and it can be quite tiring to change from analog in to various mix inputs or outputs.or headphone mixes. So it's a nice welcome to get a great quality piece of gear for a great price ! I will keep this device for sure :)

A Great Interface!A Great Interface! I use this device primarily as an interface with my Protools set up. This device is built like a tank, easy to use (plug in and play) Has its own asio drivers - to take advantage of the higher sample rates (In Windows ) and has flexible, useful configuration options through dip switches located at the back. Its preamps, converters and headphone output all sound fantastic as well. My Monitors have never sounded so good. As someone who mainly does audio editing and field recordings and just wanted something simple that gets the job done, the Usbpre 2 blew me away.
