Really good little mics, no problems here
We're a print magazine that's relatively new to video production and find the Sennheiser gear easy to use and trouble-free.
Straight out of the box it's easy to use. It doesn't come with a wind protector for the mic so that will need to be an additional purchase
I use the product for filming weddings and corporate presentations.
Fantastic sound quality. I'm yet to experience a drop out - very stable.
Easy to set up and pair.
Very tight belt clip for security
Tight threaded connection for Lavalier - no risk of accidental disconnection.
Worth noting that the included Lavalier (ME2 Omni-directional) is extremely suseptible to noise from touching the cable. A light touch or rubbing on clothing can be heard very clearly. I replaced all my ME2 Lavs with Rode Lavs - Problem solved.
I would NOT recommend using the ME2 Lavalier if you're working with people who move a lot, it's ok for a seated interview - although the audio quality is obviously poor when compared to the Rode Lavalier.
I would only use the ME2 in an emergency.
Good value for money - solid and reliable as you would expect from this brand - takes a little getting used to the menu - but when you become savvy with the workings its nice & easy.
Great to use with all types if video cameras
I'd used this mic system many times, provided for presenters like myself at caravan show seminars, so I knew they worked well. But my main requirement is for recording speech off-camera in my DVD production. It's already been a godsend, getting the mic right up to the sound source (the mouth!)to give maximum SNR, and off the camera so I no longer record camera handling noise, auto-focus motor noise, etc.
It works as well as you'd expect from a relatively expensive system (you get what you pay for) but the big decider for me was the frequency range available, which spans somewhat more than just a single digital TV band. This means that wherever I am in Australia, I can find a free channel. And choosing channels is such a simple operation, either using the auto-scan feature, or manually using the dead-easy menu function.
A second one is now going on order so my partner and I can produce our next caravan cooking DVD with much more professional sound than the previous one.
The only thing that might have been nice is a swivel antenna on the receiver so that it's orientation can be adjusted to match that of the transmitter. But I guess that would just be another point of failure, and it still seems to work well at the ranges of interest to me.
I have had the Sennheiser lapel on my list for a long time. I am so glad I finally bought one. Fantastic control over audio capture in tricky conditions.
Clear precise audio in loud conditions that nothing else would compare to.
Very happy customer.
This is a recent upgrade to the Freeport wireless microphones which now starting to deteriorate. Uses the same microphones, which is great as I now have a few spare. Great wireless range and is definitely a must-have for audio capture at a distance.
Fantastic longe range performance and sound quality. It's rare to purchase a product that exceeds it's reputation. Well worth the investment.
Great quality sound and make.
As a DSLR shooter often working alone I find this microphone very easy to use and of excellent quality. It's portable and perfect for any interviews whether they are in the field or a controlled environment.
I mainly use this product for subject interviews for documentary, as well as event videography.
You can literally turn the transmitter and receiver on, and know that you are going to get reliable audio off the bat.
Menu navigation is simple and easy to pick up, and you can change Tx/Rx frequencies, mic sensitivity and other features with a couple of clicks.
The only additional feature I would like to see is the ability to adjust mic sensitivity at the receiver end, which I am not able to do, but other than that it is a solid product.
Super easy to use.
Great quality sound. Solid build!
Like all sennheiser products this is just a great piece of kit!
Great product. Clear sound quality on these mics and they seem to be able to take quite a few hard drops with no damage.
I've used cheaper Lapel's in the past, but this was my first Lavalier that I actually purchased outright. I've heard & read alot of good feedback about the Sennheiser Lapels and I can do nothing but follow with the consensus. I'm using the G3 for filmmaking and like the quality of sound as much as the shotgun mic. Money well spent.
These are absolutely fantastic little kits, and are about the best wireless microphones you can buy at this price level. Unless you've got the budget for a $10,000 wireless system, I've found these to perform better than anything else out there, and are leagues ahead of any of the cheaper options. They're rugged, easy to use, and extremely versatile.
The battery life is fantastic, and they'll run at full power until the low battery indicator flashes. They also take AA batteries, so sourcing spares in the field is not only possible, but easy and cheap.
I was very impressed at how easy this item was to use, out of the box. A quick search on YouTube led to a demo which explained everything clearly (I'm not the best with manuals) and I was away.
Sound quality is superb and I am very happy.
I use it for my video production business . I like the quick setup and the clean sound.
Great for interview
Brilliant piece of equipment. It's light weight, durable and feels like its made to last. I was able to set it up without any problem despite having little technical knowledge of audio equipment. It gives great close in, clear audio which gives the professional edge to one's video. Buy this, or the ENG version for extra versatility. You won't regret it.
So far so good.
I've had problems with other cheaper radio mics by Sennheiser and it made every shoot a struggle so I ended up ditching them. This kit produces a great, audible sound no matter where you place your mic and I've found this kit to be great to carry around to shoots. It's taken the hassle out of good audio, so thanks Videoguys!
All I had to do is turn on both devices. Wireless is great. Will never go back to cables again. Included lapel mic records a suprisingly good sound for such a small mic. Tx and Rx takes AA batteries. Expensive, but you pay for what you get. Sound is clean. Good for indoor. Not ideal for windy outdoors as I discovered.
I honestly love this little unit and it has completely changed the way I work. I normally use the wireless handheld and the Rode VideoMic but this has upped my game. The only thing that bothers me about it (and I am unable to find a solution to this) is the fact that every so often - when using it for a long period of time (about 45 minutes onwards) you get a random noise (sounds like paper ripping). It's interference and not clothes rub. It lasts about a 1/4 of a second.
I used to use Sennheiser wireless lapels a fews years back and had the same issue which we couldn't resolve. It was far worse back then.
If someone does have a solution for this then I would love to hear it. Luckily so far it has only happened during points where I could edit the noise out without effecting the main audio. I have a feeling this may not always be the case though. If I can resolve this problem - which I am sure I can - then this would get 5 stars. The audio itself is spot on.
I love this kit! We have a JVC Pro Camcorder GY-100E and this unit, combined with the wireless Sennheiser, is a brilliant, professional combo. We have tested the range of the mike and get about 75 metres distance with crystal clear coverage - picks up smaller surround sounds, which means one must be careful of what the person wearing the mike is doing when being recorded - but, I see this as a 'pro', as it is the reason we bought the mike - it's sensitivity and clarity. Well made, solid in construction, I'd recommend this to my friends. Five stars all round.
Great lav mic. Industry standard. Clean audio, never had a problem with these systems
Extremely portable system good quality. Lapel mic maay not be good enough for musical theatre singers, but great for spoken word
Just plug it in and turn it on and your off. Really good when a boom mike is just going to get in the way all the time like real life situations anywhere.
Great professional mic system.
Simple to set up and easy to use.
These are very good microphones. I used Azden previously and major issues with drop out and interference even at very close proximity. I have only used these once so far but was very impressed with the quality of the sound. They are not cheap BUT you get what you pay for.
Sennheiser gear is nearly always QUALITY equipment... and the EW 112 is a fine example of that... Its a GREAT tool in the arsenal when doing interviews (particularly when you don't have someone to hold a shootgun on a boom) in the field... set up correctly it works well... Its VERY SOLID and good battery life... a little over priced, but you'll have it for years to come.
Use it for recording lectures. Love it. makes life so much easier. So far I have recorded with it for 6 hours with the batteries it came with and they haven't even dropped below full bars yet. So needless to say, I'm very impressed.
Sound quality is better than my H4n.
The mic was a bit average, but I use my own head mic anyway.
This product came in great packaging. It was too easy to use. It also has a great quality of sound for wireless and being so lightweight. The transmitter and receiver unitS are pretty heavy duty and would seem to be able to handle the use one thE field. A great Mike for on field activities. I'm taking this one through the boonies of India and beyond for some field work!
I record video podcasts using the lapels. They're a high quality product with a solid build and if you know how to use them properly and look after them, you'll likely get a good many years use out of them.
I had the G2's previously and thought I'd upgrade to the G3's. These units like the G2's are reliable and rock solid. I've used them for almost 9 shoots now and RF interference has been minimal so far and I've gotten clean and consistent results each time.
Use it to record audio for PTC primarily. Very good quality but quite prone to wind noise. Well constructed and with care should last a lifetime
