Poor Cable QualityIs use this with my Sennheiser Wireless Lav systems. The build quality of the Micon cable leaves much to be desired. I've owned this mic for a couple of years now so maybe the quality has been updated since but mine has frayed like an iphone charger cable at the transmitter end due to lots of use. You need to be very careful with screwing the mic into the transmitter. My mic is now unusable due to popping and hissing generated from the broken cable until I replace it.
One other issue I've come across is that you have to check each of the connections are all tightly screwed in. Once on an interview where I wasn't monitoring the audio I found that the top of the mic itself wasn't fully screwed in resulting in no audio being recorded from this mic. Lesson learned is I now always monitor the audio.
While this mic sounds great, due to these problems I've now reverted back to using the stock mic that came with my Lav kit which is a much more robust design for everyday use and I will save this one (once repaired) for more important projects.
Best thing about this mic is that you can easily replace broken components.

Excellent mic, worth every pennyDon't forget to buy extra cable as you may need it if you're not using a radio mic pack.

Fantastic Audio QualityI use the Rode Lav with the Sennheiser EW 112-P G3 Portable wireless lapel system as the included Lavalier was susceptible to noise from clothing movement. As a test I ran my fingers up and down the cable on both Lav mics - The Rode Lav was silent where the G3 included Lav was very noisy. The cable is extremely strong (Kevlar lined) and easily field repairable should something unfortunate happen as the Lav, Cable and Connector can be unscrewed and replaced. With other Lavs - Cable damage means the Lav is out of action for the day. With Rode, I can carry a spare MiCon cable and change it out in less than a minute!
Only thing worth mentioning - There is no included MiCon connector. You must buy that separately. It's not a big deal but some customers may not realize and then have to place another order for MiCon adapters once they realise.

Fantastic lavalierI really love the Rode Lavalier - it sounds really clear and open, and cuts really well with a boom. It's also nice and small, which makes it really easy to hide. The windscreen is a little on the large side - I would have preferred a small grill-type, but I rarely ever use the included windscreen on lavs anyway.
The MiCon system is one of the best things to ever happen to lav mics. Now I can use the same microphone and just swap the connector to plug it into a wireless pack, a small recorder or my mixer.
I'm a huge fan of the Sanken COS-11, and the Rode Lav is about the same size and, to my ears, sounds just as good. Given that the Rode is half the price, and has the fantastic MiCon system, buying them for my kit was a no-brainer.

Does the job reasonably priced.I bought this mike to use as a direct input into my Sony HD handycam to reduce wind and other ambient noise when shooting for my travel website. Using my Sony wireless mikes for my personal commentary was too much trouble to set up, and I needed something quick and dirty to let me shoot inconspicuously. Without the mike I record sound in 5:1, and I noted that the Rohde's output (two channel) was considerably louder than that from the internal mike. The dead kitten was not too large, although noticeable, and did it's job pretty well. Sound quality overall was good and not tinny or over sharp. I found the little plastic case very useful as I'm usually on the road and it slips into a compartment in my camera bag nicely. A bit fiddly storing the mike away but worth it if you tend to be hard on your gear like me. I did (and do) worry about that thin cord, but put my trust in Rohde's promise that it's kevlar and tough enough. Being able to swop the mini-jack for an XLR really adds to the mike's flexibility.

great mic, small details lackinggreat sensitive mic, with low noise. Strong cord and awesome warranty! requires 2-5V power, but this is only mentioned in the long list of product specifications, not the set up instructions (which are otherwise mostly obvious). Cord could be a fraction longer. The carry box is really nifty, but too small. It's too tight a squeeze to fit everything in quickly you have to fold everything up really neat, which isn't practical (and forget about fitting in any micon adaptors)
