Rode WS9 Deluxe Windshield for Rode VideoMicro & VideoMic Me (Grey)
Limited 1-Year Warranty, Extendable to 2 Years upon Registration
Switch from using the built-in mic on your camera or portable recorder to the Rode VideoMicro ultracompact camera-mount shotgun microphone for improved sound quality and wind noise reduction without adding heft to your rig. Since it runs on plug-in power and has no controls or switches, the VideoMicro is a simple and reliable microphone ideal for mobile journalists, vloggers, and run-and-gun shooters.
This ultracompact and ultralightweight shotgun microphone features a detachable shock mount that mounts directly to your DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera and reduces noise from vibrations and camera handling. The supplied furry windshield minimizes wind noise, making it well suited for outdoor shoots. The detachable coiled 3.5mm TRS cable ensures easy hookup to your camera, and the dual-mono output means that no channel selection is necessary on your recording device.
At just 80mm long and 42g light, the VideoMicro is an unobtrusive companion for your camera. Its ceramic coating mitigates glare and its durable aluminium body aids in RF rejection.
Whereas most built-in camera microphones pick up sound from all directions, this microphone utilizes a cardioid polar pattern to focus on sound in front of it while attenuating sound entering from the rear. Its active electronics and directional condenser element deliver more detailed audio than the mics typically found in cameras and portable recorders.
A detachable coiled 3.5mm cable is supplied for fast hookup to your camera. The cable is wired in a dual-mono configuration, ensuring that the mic signal is sent identically to both input channels of your camera or portable recorder.
No batteries are required to operate the VideoMicro. Just connect the microphone to your camera or recorder, enable plug-in power on the device, and forget about swapping or charging batteries.
Understanding that the rubber bands used in many shock mounts can snap and stretch, Rode chose to utilize a rugged Rycote Lyre suspension-style shock mount. This simplifies the setup of the mic and inhibits the transfer of vibrations from the camera. Plus, the bottom of the shock mount features a camera shoe mount with a 3/8" thread, ensuring easy attachment to your camera or a boompole such as Rode's Micro Boompole (available separately).
The VideoMicro includes a furry windshield to minimise unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners.
Expand the microphone's device compatibility with Rode accessories such as the SC4, SC7, and VXLR+ (all available separately). With either the SC4 or SC7, you can connect the VideoMicro directly to a smartphone or tablet equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack. The VXLR+ adapter is the ideal solution when you want to record the VideoMicro to a camcorder or mixer that has XLR inputs.

Love the little mike, so clear even in the wind.
I purchased this from the VideoGuys to use on my Sony A7r-II and was not sure if it would work properly. It does ! It gives excellent quality sound, even in the wind, and great volume, controlled within the camera.
It is a great addition if you are doing video work on the camera and not too intrusive on the camera. Thanks guys.

Good Mono Sound In A Small Package
I needed a small mono external mic for a gig on an Sony ARII to grab basic sound, needed to be better than internal mic. Did the job perfectly as camera was able to power the mic fine. Then tried it on other setups - many cameras refused to power the mic - they would need a mic with an internal battery. Also tried with the OSMO hand held, and here, it worked half the time. Sometimes it would record fine, but other times got massive amounts of system noise - which other external mics did not create - so the VideoMicro and OSMO combination is not reliable. Note also the windshield is pretty basic and wont stop wind noise as well as some other more expensive Rode systems.
