ENG features with cinema level quality for an indie priceThis is an absolutely fantastic camera. It has been improved over the original Ursa Mini in every way, and the physical toggles are excellent and easy to use and positioned in a way familiar to anyone who has used an ENG camera before. However, all the controls are also available on the touchscreen, which is intuitively laid out and super easy to use.
The sensor produces a spectacular image, and the internal codecs put it far and beyond cameras at a similar price point. This camera doesn't seem to be plagued by the same issues as the original Ursa Mini, such as magenta tinging or fixed pattern noise, but it is the same sensor. As such, its low light performance isn't in the same league as Sony, and is limited to an ISO of 1600, so you will need fast lenses or use this camera where lighting is more controllable. The image is clean however, and the 10-bit codecs hold up to colour extremes like stage lighting exceptionally well.
Audio is a touch noisy when using high gain, and there's an electronic buzz when using an unbalanced audio source such as the Rodelink via a 3.5 to XLR adapter.
All in all, a well designed camera that brings high end ENG and cinema features into a single, affordable body that competes well with other cameras in the price range.
